The Tancor Corporation has been a family operated masonry contracting company since 1992.

 

Judd E. Tanzini, President

Judd graduated from Western Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science in Aviation Maintenance Technology degree in 1994. He worked in the aviation field and then joined the Tancor Corporation in 1995 as a tradesman working in the field. He worked on jobs involving masonry, rough and finish carpentry, concrete, and pre-engineered metal buildings, eventually rising to the position of job superintendent.  Judd was also in charge of all equipment and equipment maintenance for Tancor.


As The Tancor Corporation continued to grow, Judd moved from the field and into the office, where his expertise was put to work as an estimator and project manager. His experience includes jobs in commercial, industrial, healthcare, educational, and retail areas of construction.  Judd currently holds the title of President, and is involved in all aspects of planning, staffing, safety, and operations of the The Tancor Corporation.

He is currently a Commissioner on the City of Midland Planning Commission.  He is also a committee member and the Planning Committee Liaison to the Non-Motorized Transportation Committee of the City of Midland, Michigan.

For fun, Judd is an avid Detroit Red Wings fan, and enjoys camping, coaching youth sports, and spending valuable time with his wife Christine and children Tristan, Maria, Luciano, and Giovanni.

 

Edward W. Tanzini, P.E., Vice President

Ed graduated from Clarkson University with both a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering degree and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Distribution degree in 1970. He completed his post-graduate work in Civil Engineering at Michigan Technological University in 1973.

Ed began his career in construction as teenager, when he started working for his father as a construction laborer. He has been continuously employed in the construction industry since finishing college, working his way up from Field Superintendent to Project Manager, and then to Vice President at a medium-sized general contracting firm in Midland, Michigan over an 17 year period. Ed also spent 2 years as Assistant to the President in a $50+ million per year construction management firm in Johnson City, New York.  In 1992, Ed and his wife JoAnn started The Tancor Corporation, a general contracting firm in Midland, Michigan, where he has been employed ever since. Ed holds Register Professional Engineers licenses in Michigan and in Wisconsin.

Since 1973, he has been very involved in the Associated Builders & Contractors, Inc. He has held many offices in the local Saginaw Valley Chapter of ABC, including four terms as Chapter Chairman and over 38 years on the Chapter Board of Directors. At the National level of the ABC, Ed has served as a Member of the National Board of Directors for over 34 years and as a member and/or chairman of a number of National ABC committees. He is also affiliated with the Michigan Society of Professional Engineers, the American Society of Civil Engineers and other civic and professional organizations.

 

JoAnn M. Tanzini, Controller and Corporate Secretary

JoAnn received her Bachelor of Arts in Education, with a major in Biology from the State University of New York, Potsdam campus, in 1970.  Upon completion of her education she taught junior high sciences in New York State, until relocating with her husband Ed to Houghton, Michigan. In 1977, she returned to college at Central Michigan University, pursuing post-graduate work in Education and undergraduate work in Financial Accounting.

After working for 15 years in the accounting and financial departments of a number of construction companies, she and her husband opened their own construction business, The Tancor Corporation. JoAnn is an active participant in the day-to-day operation of the Tancor Corporation, where she has responsibility and control of all financial and accounting functions. Her responsibilities include working with and compiling all financial documentation for Tancor’s outside financial consultants, including banking, bonding, and accounting firms. JoAnn also manages all of Tancor’s internal accounting, job cost, and payroll functions.

Through her involvement with professional organizations such as the Associated Builders and Contractors and the Saginaw Valley State University Stevens Center for Family Business, she continues to bring new ideas and programs to Tancor.

Outside of the business setting, JoAnn has been a long-time volunteer in the Midland community. Since settling in Midland in 1973, she has participated in the Midland Branch of the American Association of University Women, volunteered and worked within the Midland Public School system, and served on the Board of Directors, as Registrar and as President of the Midland Soccer Club from 1985 through 2000.  She also served as a youth recreational soccer coach during that time. She continues to stay involved in community youth activities through her grandchildren who reside locally.
